Sandiya's Path to Leadership

Sandiya is one of our unit's newly promoted leaders, but her path to leadership was not a simple process.  As a dual enrollment student with Midlands Tech's Upward Bound program, her initiative and responsibility as a high school student is what caught the eye of the Talent Acquisition team at Chick-fil-A Columbiana Mall.  Sandiya had previously spent some time working in a remote position but soon realized the company culture of her employer was not quite what was advertised.  She was hired on the spot and immediately began to thrive in her role at the mall unit.

Shortly after she had settled in to her new job, Diya faced another curve ball.  Operator Laurel Garcia had just been selected for relocation to a free standing Chick-fil-A only seven minutes away from her mall unit.  While the heart behind the business and even the service model remained the same, Sandiya had to now relearn her position, incorporating an intense double lane drive thru with the added pressure of combining two different teams to create "blended family" of sorts.
From the outset, she made it her mission to encourage her new coworkers.  Her unflinching positive outlook soon set her apart as a leader although it may not have been reflected by her name tag.  Unsurprisingly, Sandiya was invited to join the leadership team where she now serves as our AM Supervisor.  But this new challenge was anything but butterflies and rainbows.  Early on, she battled her self confidence and even considered walking away.  "I didn't feel like i could do it...I thought about leaving."  Time and experience have been her teachers, along with a supportive cast of co-leaders in operations.  It may have been at the cost of some difficult days, but Diya has outlasted her learning curve and continues to shine and add value to our business.

"I didn't feel like I could do it...I thought about leaving."

Part of what makes her a great leader is her uncommon sense of responsibility.  While her contemporaries might be chasing followers on Instagram, Sandiya shared that she's making strides towards home ownership and dreams of buying a new car, right off the lot.  Her commitment, as well her empathy are what make her such a vital part of our team at Chick-fil-A Bush River Road.  Ever approachable and easy to talk to, her brand of leadership is built by caring for her team and extending that same care to each guest she serves.

Outside of work, Sandiya enjoys spending time with family, experimenting with makeup, listening to music, and trying new things.

Tre's Chick-fil-A Story

In my time with Chick-fil-A, I've had the privilege of working with a lot of inspiring young people.  It's amazing but not uncommon to see our team members develop into business leaders and agents of change in our community.  Occasionally, I get to work alongside someone who not only inspires and challenges me personally, but who also has a profound impact on everyone around them as well.  Treshaun Jacobs is just such a person. Tre joined the team at Chick-fil-a Bush River Road in August of 2021 during a pivotal time for the future of our business.  We were transitioning out of a season of corporate stewardship as we prepared to welcome a new operator.  Tre quickly established a reputation for dependability and selfless service.  In the weeks and months after this transition, he proved time and again how valuable he had become to our organization.  Years later, his joy in serving others refuses to be limited by the four walls of the restaurant.  In addition to leading our team

Senora Gladys' Chick-fil-A Story

Some of the most powerful stories I know have begun from a place of pain and loss. With over 20 years of experience in the foodservice industry, I’ve known and even played a small role in many of these stories myself. However, occasionally, you hear a story that changes the way you look at the world. A story that inspires hope and even challenges you to make the world a better place. I’m honored to have the privilege of sharing one of these stories with you. Anyone who knows her could tell you that Mrs. Gladys is the human embodiment of joy and perseverance. She is the mother of three, grandmother of six “princesas hermosas” (beautiful princesses) and the proverbial matriarch of her clan. She built a successful business operating a family-owned restaurant in her native Colombia. Unfortunately, with her success came the attentions of opportunistic guerillas who threatened her family with violence and extortion. Most of her family were able to escape to Ecuador, but some were unable to

LaDasia's Chick-fil-A Story

“It was the best decision I’ve ever made.  It’s so easy to grow in this community.  This is where I needed to be.” LaDasia joined the team at Chick-fil-A Bush River Road in the summer of 2021.  Shortly after the passing of our long-time operator and in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, it was certainly a difficult season for our unit.  Encouraged to apply by her family, her aim was to simply pull down a steady paycheck.  As one of our recently promoted supervisors, she is now building a legacy of care that goes miles beyond making ends meet. In our conversation, LaDasia shared with me that her grandpa has always been a source of inspiration for her.  Unflagging support and a persistent challenge are the trademarks of his investment in her journey.  We continued to talk about investing in others and the trickle down effect of this style of leadership.  This is something she is deeply passionate about.  I love watching her seize teachable moments as she shapes developing leaders while
